From Servant Leader to Corporate Boss - A Cautionary Tale.

Adam was a shy civil engineer who joined direct selling. He was quiet but incredibly dedicated. He built a great team by being a servant leader.

He would:

- Drive long hours to help his team.

- Create simple training tools.

- Answer calls anytime, even late at night.

- Do team presentations in living rooms.

But then, Adam got promoted to a top corporate role. Corner office, big title—it seemed like a dream come true.

That’s when things changed. Suddenly, Adam was saying things like:

- 'Talk to my assistant if you want a meeting'.

- 'That’s not how we do things at my level'.

He stopped mentoring his team directly and replaced one-on-one connections with formal events. Celebrations? He thought they were beneath him.

The result? His team started falling apart. Not because he was too busy helping them, but because he stopped helping at all.

The saddest part? Adam didn’t even realize he had lost the connection that made him a great leader in the first place.

Here’s the lesson: Leadership isn’t about the title you have—it’s about how you serve your people.
