Why I Never Test Business Ideas — And Why You Shouldn’t Either.

The August 2000 decision that changed everything
In August 2000, I sat at my desk staring at a business opportunity.
My hands were cold. My heart was racing. Part of me wanted to believe in the dream. Another part feared the unknown.
I had a choice: Test the waters—ask around, seek validation, play it safe. Or dive in completely.
I chose to dive.
That single decision built an international business across 30+ countries and changed the trajectory of my entire life.
Here’s What Most People Get Wrong
After 25 years in business, I’ve watched thousands of people face the same moment I did. And I’ve seen a pattern that repeats itself over and over:
People destroy their dreams before they even start.
They pitch opportunities before they join. They ask friends who’ve never built anything. They seek permission from people living the life they’re trying to escape.
And when they face rejection, they say: “See? I told you it doesn’t work.”
But the business didn’t fail. They did—by never giving themselves a real chance.
The Difference Between Research and Fear
Let me be clear: I’m not saying join anything blindly.
There’s a critical difference between smart research and scared testing.
Smart research is learning about the company, the products, the compensation, the track record. That’s due diligence.
Scared testing is seeking validation for your fear. It’s asking people who’ve never built anything whether your dream will work.
Winners do research. Most others test and talk.
What Happened After I Stopped Testing
When I made that decision in August 2000, I didn’t test. I committed.
I studied the business. I learned the products. I built my belief. Then—and only then—I shared it with others.
That mindset allowed me to:
• Build an organization of millions across multiple countries
• Earn consistent weekly commissions for over two decades
• Co-author books with Brian Tracy
• Create the freedom I once thought impossible
Not because I was special. But because I didn’t sabotage myself before I even started.
If You’re Standing at the Edge Right Now…
Maybe you’re looking at a business opportunity. Maybe you’re considering a career change. Maybe there’s something you’ve been wanting to start but fear keeps holding you back.
This is your moment.
I wrote the complete story on Medium, including:

• Why “testing waters” destroys dreams before they start
• The Napoleon Hill principle I use to protect my focus
• The four things I wish someone told me in August 2000
• What 25 years of building taught me about commitment vs. hesitation

The article is called “Stop Testing the Waters — That’s Why Most Never Make It in Business” and it might be the permission slip you’ve been waiting for.
Read it. Then come back and tell me: Are you going to test, or are you going to dive in?
The people who win in life aren’t the ones who test the waters. They’re the ones who jump in, swim, and figure it out along the way.
That’s how freedom begins.
That’s how transformation starts.
I’m living proof.
